“The Anna V. Water Scholarship provides a strong sense of a "helping-hand community." This welcoming feeling not extends not only from the awards given to myself and other students, but also through the annual ceremony where many are allowed to network and collaboratw with each other. I appreciate the continuous support and contact by telephone to check up on my well-being throughout the year.”

"I have acquired many qualities over the years through my upbringing in the church, family and education that reflect the characteristics needed to be a future leader in our society, like the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and our 44th President Barack Obama. I have humility and understand that sometimes the needs of others may need to come before my own. I have empathy to get things accomplished for other people and the vision to look at things in a way others may not. I am an optimistic, genuine, trustworthy, and reliable person who has the ability to motivate and inspire people. While I have much to learn, I am mature and know how important it is to stay positive despite any obstacle I may encounter. I know to stay true to my beliefs and values and be confident in who I am and my ability to seek a promising future in helping others."

"I am writing this letter to thank all of those who have contributed to the fund and those who decided to grant me additional funding for my 2020-2021 academic school year. Like so many others, I have been struggling with the various obstacles and harsships presented by this year; however, receiving this scholarship has offered me some relief."
